A Ring camera video, allegedly showing a raccoon heroically defending a Halloween candy bowl from a menacing, motion-activated clown, clocked over 10 million views on TikTok and X. With its typical grainy quality and convincing timestamp, the footage burst into viral glory—everyone loves a sugar-crazed raccoon braving haunted porch pranks, right?
After running the clip through our AI video detector, the truth wasn't so sweet: flagged as AI-generated. Closer inspection gave away the raccoon's ‘slow’ reaction to a sound, him disappearing in the middle of nowhere, and clown’s hat turning into a hockey puck while flying away. The tool also highlighted all of the frames red. Pretty obvious AI.
This deepfake is part of a growing wave of AI-generated Ring footage starring animals and holiday antics. Pro tip: when a doorbell cam scene feels a little too made-for-viral, check it with a video detection tool. Halloween is for fun frights, not digital fakes.
