A photo of a massive McDonald’s-style meal recently went viral on social media. The image shows an unrealistically perfect fast-food setup: multiple burgers stacked identically, two packs of fries with flawless placement, a drink, and dipping sauces lined up in perfect symmetry. The picture was published by viral food accounts and quickly spread across X and Instagram.
We checked the image using the AI Image Detector on isFake.ai, and 87% of the image was flagged as AI-generated. Typical AI artifacts are visible:
The fries and chicken nuggets also appear unnaturally uniform, suggesting the image was produced using a tool like Midjourney or DALL·E rather than a real camera.
This case shows how AI-generated food photos are increasingly used as engagement bait on social media. They look “hyper-real” and trigger curiosity, but have no connection to real food or real brands.
